Dr. Michael Cole
Ellensburg native and University of Washington alumnus, Dr. Cole is a 1979 graduate of Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago. The call of the Northwest lured him back, and in 1980 he started a family practice in Ellensburg, where he has served Kittitas Valley patients ever since.
Dr. Cole regularly updates his practice with the dental technologies and materials to enhance his patients’ treatment and care. He and his dental team continually expand their knowledge and polish their clinical skills through lectures, workshops, and other dental education programs. His many professional memberships also keep him abreast of new dental developments. He has two beliefs driving his passion for continuing education: Constant and Never-Ending Improvement (CANI) and “You don’t know what you don’t know.” He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association, the Yakima Dental Society, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics, and the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health.
The fun-loving Dr. Cole enjoys sharing conversation or a good joke with his patients. When he’s not in the office, he and Robin—his wife, best friend, companion, and competitor—keep busy with outdoor activities including golf, cycling, tennis, and yard projects.
Dr. Cristina (Law) Bender was born and raised in Ellensburg. She graduated at the top of her class at Ellensburg High School and received a full-ride scholarship to attend the University of Washington where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology. Dr. Bender attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry and completed a one-year AEGD (Advanced Education in Dental Residency) program in Toppenish with the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic.
After her residency, Dr. Bender joined the Northeast Washington Health Programs in Colville, Washington, where she held the title of Dental Director and managed three clinics for over two years.
Dr. Bender is very excited to be back home in Ellensburg at Pearl Care Dental providing services to the community in which she was raised. With her unique background and commitment to continuing education, Dr. Bender has advanced training in oral surgery, dental implants, and pediatric dentistry. She continually strives to ensure that all of her patients walk away with a great experience, knowing that they received quality dental care from a dentist who is compassionate, kind, honest, and straightforward.
Outside the office, Dr. Bender enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt; their Boston terrier, Bubba; and their daughter, Mila. They enjoy trying new restaurants, camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico, his own father a general dentist, Fred attended Dallas’ Baylor College of Dentistry, graduating in the top 5% of his class in 1985. He continued his education with a one-year General Practice Residency at the University of Washington before practicing seven years in Leavenworth, WA. In 1997, Fred took over the practice of Dr. Richard Washut and continued his solo career there until Dr. Tyler Green (a former five-year associate at Pearl Dental Care) helped him “retire” in 2012. Since then, Fred has worked part-time with Tyler.
His professional skills have taken Fred to Vietnam and Egypt with Operation Smile, Kenya and northern India, and very briefly to Afghanistan in 2011. His two most recent trips have been to Nepal, serving as Health Volunteer Overseas’ first-ever volunteer in that country in April of 2015, and then returning to aid in earthquake relief this past January. Fred’s “second career” is creative writing. He has the good fortune of being published nearly fifty times and when he’s not reading or writing, he divides his time between fly fishing, two chocolate labs, and his two unbelievably adorable grandsons, Torin and Miles.
