You’ve known that your dental appointment was coming up for weeks, but now that it’s actually here, you’re tempted to just call and cancel. You, like millions of other Americans, suffer from dental phobia, or a fear of going to the dentist. This type of anxiety prevents millions of people from getting their essential dental care every year, and it’s usually their oral and overall health that pays the price. At Pearl Care Dental, we completely empathize with our more nervous patients, and in order to help them finally get the smile they deserve without stress or fear, we can offer IV sedation. With this approach, we can help you practically sleep through your appointments so you never have to worry about going to the dentist again.

How IV Sedation Works

When you request that we use IV sedation at your dental appointment, we’ll first evaluate your health to make sure it will be safe. Once we determine that it is, when you show up for your visit, you’ll be given a powerful sedative using a small injection in your hand or arm. This will be administered by a certified nurse anesthetist so we can keep your health and safety as our top priorities. You’ll likely feel very drowsy and relaxed almost immediately, so much so that may actually fall asleep. Your appointment will seem to fly by very quickly, and once your treatment is over and we stop sedation, it will feel like you’ve woken up from a long, restful nap.

Because of the strength of this treatment, we require that a friend or family member drive you to and from our office the day of your visit as well as keep an eye on your for a few hours afterward. You should feel completely normal by the next morning (at the latest).

Is IV Sedation Right For Me?

If you would be interested in using IV sedation at your next dental appointment, please give us a call today. We’ll make sure you never have a reason to fear the dentist again.
