What is Ozone Therapy?

Here at Pearl Care Dental, we try to do things the safest and least toxic way we can. That

includes the products and techniques that we use. We are the only dental clinic in Ellensburg

that uses ozone technology to change your oral microbe and give it a complete reset. At Pearl

Care Dental, ozone therapy is part of our holistic, total-body-health approach to dental care.

What is ozone therapy?

Ozone is simply a hyper-charged form of oxygen. When introduced into the body, it creates a

“transient oxidative burst” that inactivates bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeast and protozoa. This

allows us to kill the pathogens in the mouth in a natural and holistic manner without being

irritating to the tissue and without using antibiotics.

Ozone therapy has been used to disinfect and treat disease for over 150 years and has been

extensively studied for many decades. Fun fact: in 1896 Nikola Tesla patented the first O3

generator in the US, later forming the “Tesla Ozone Company.” It was used by doctors in the

first world war and was found when applied topically, it not only remedied infection but also had

hemodynamic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Ozone can be used in a gas, mixed with water, and as an oil. We use all three in a variety of

ways depending on each patient’s individual needs. In our office, we have ozone generators in

each operatory that can generate ozone gas on demand. We also have installed our own water

distiller and ozone generator where we continuously make ozone water. Our ozone oil is

sourced from one of the best manufacturers in the field.

What is so amazing with ozone is its versatility! Ozone therapy allows our office to treat oral

infections, reverse decay, reduce mouth pain, accelerate the bodies healing process and

disinfecting water lines in a safe and natural manner. Ozone therapy will not add time to your

dental procedure and is administered throughout the procedure you’re already receiving at your

appointment.

Ozone therapy side effects are quite rare and much scarcer than side effect from antibiotics.

we always use the correct dosages and concentrations of ozone and proper techniques to

provide safe and effective treatment.
